Long Island NY Newborn - Maternity - Family - Couples - Seniors - Fitness Photographer

When I had my kids, perfectly posed studio newborn photos were all the rage. These days it's all about showing the connection you have with your new family AT HOME.

Especially now, at home newborn photos with the baby in your arms seems the safest.

I come prepared - equipment cleaned, hands sanitized, mask on, shoes come off. Just me and my camera. Nothing else. No props or anything that get reused. Don't need them.

Families use their own onesies, wraps, headbands and nothing else. You are comfortable and most importantly, your baby is safe.

Some families are even waiting as a precaution until the baby is a little older. That's the great thing about this style. It works even as your little one grows up.

Figuring out what to wear to your newborn photos session can get stressful. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you along the way.

--> Baby <-- Dressing the baby is simple. The main focus is the baby, so less is more regarding outfits. A simple onesie, diaper or swaddle. It's great to use the blanket grandma made or a special swaddle. I always ask client to bring in something personal if they have it. Regular clothing on the newborn, although adorable, usually doesn't fit the baby well enough at this point and does't always come across well in pictures. We want these images to be timeless and classic. Simply put.

-->> Mom <<-- You're probably still feeling like you just had a baby. Don't worry about trying to look perfect. Wear something comfortable and loose fitting. A loose dress or shirt. Where what you feel good in.

-->> Wear casual clothes <<-- In home pictures are very relaxed and casual. Feel free to wear jeans, easy sitting dress and throw those socks off.

->> Matching is out - Coordinating is in! <<-- The days of all white shirts and jeans on the beach are gone. Pick one to two colors.

-->> Neutrals look best <<-- Newborn sessions are about the newborn so neutrals help keep the focus on them. A simple dress, jeans and light shirt

-->> Start with one outfit <<-- you really like then build up from there. Usually mom gets to pick hers first.

-->> Dresses <<-- I love dresses for moms and little girls! They add a sense of movement and femininity to the pictures. That's always a good thing

A special blanket, simple onesie and tine headband make this images timeless

-->> Dads <<-- Dad's should be easy to dress. A casual button down with rolled up sleeves, or a college shirt paired with either khakis or jeans

-->> Stay away from Neon colors <<-- Those colors reflect off the skin and causing your skin to take on that hue

-->> Don't over accessorize <<-- We want these photos to look timeless. Less is more so it's not a distraction.

-->> Don't forget your Nails <<-- Newborn shoots i'l taking a lot of closeups and often the baby is in your arms.

--> Most Important -- Be Yourself <-- All these comments are simply suggestions and not rules! You should be you and feel like yourself in your clothes. Most important thing is that you are comfortable. If you are ripped jean and t-shirt kind of people then go for it. If you just love your sneakers then by all means wear them. The focus is not on your clothing, it's on you and your family. It's the emotion and connection you share together that will last a lifetime.

I'm excited to get back to photographing and to see all my beautiful clients again.  Without a doubt this time in history has come with it challenges, sadness but also brought us all together as a planet. I've seen families slow down and come tougher through this. Reforming bonds that were filled with after school practices, hectic work schedules, opposing schedules, homework, school etc. There were and still are many hardships to face but slowing down out planet has lent itself to many beautiful things.

I want to celebrate re-opening in Phase 2 by offering my clients sessions that are assessable for all.

I usually save mini sessions for the fall so this is a rare opportunity.

One of my main goals when photographing people together is to show their LOVE and CONNECTION and I want to do that as much as possible this summer.

Summer mini-sessions are open to -

families, couples, maternity and graduating seniors

(sorry, no newborns or extended family for these fast moving sessions)

I'm especially excited to add seniors because of all they had to miss out on this school year.  Hopefully this can bring them some cheer before heading off to college..

Sessions can take place either at a beach or wooded area.  I have particular locations in mind within Suffolk County NY so you can meet me there.

Session at 1/2 hour which will give us plenty of time together to get a variety of great natural looking shots.

Of course things will look a little and I'll be wearing a mask and will plan to keep a safe distance away.  (thank goodness for zoom lenses lol)
