Lifestyle Newborn Photography
-What to expect-

Hi there, I’m Kim.   Thank you for considering me for you newborn photos.   This is such an important time in life and it deserves care and authenticity.

I’ve always loved photography but one of the main reasons that brought me be a family and newborn photographer was my own children.  I wanted to be able to capture all their quirkiness, their details and silly faces.  Things that pass by in a blink of an eye as they grow and change.  The newborn phase especially goes by in a flash so you want to be able capture and hold on to every moment.

I love being able to come into your home and share these treasured moments with you.   There is something truly special about being able to photograph in the baby’s nursery, crib, in mom’s arms and with their siblings.  Cuddling in mom and dad’s bed and surrounding by their own toys.  It’s the personal touches and love that surrounds them that makes every shoot unique and “feel like home.”

What to expect from your newborn photoshoot

My overall goal for every newborn session is a relaxed, stress-free, and fun experience for all!
I’ll be capturing the family, siblings, baby, photos of baby with each parent, nursery details and furry friends if they want to jump in.

My sessions are pretty laid back and I try to make it as stress free and fun as possible.  I don’t go overboard with props or posing, but instead encourage families to be themselves in front of the camera so we can capture natural moments. I love  being able to show the LOVE and CONNECTION you have for your new baby.

I try to use the spots with the house with the prettiest natural light so open all the blinds and let the sunshine in.  I’ll do a quick house tour when I first get there to see where our best locations may be.  I usually try to use the main living area, master bedroom, and nursery whenever I can.  .

I don’t want you to stress over what to wear so I’ll help you find a style  that’s authentic to your family,  Happy to share some ideas and lead you in the right direction with a “what to wear” guide.

How long does a newborn session last?

Newborn sessions are “baby led” so we will follow the baby’s lead if they need anything like feeding, swaddling or wanting to be held.  Sessions generally last about 2 hours so there is plenty if the baby needs breaks.  I will never rush out of a newborn session so we can take the time we need.

When should i book?

I usually recommend having the photos done within a week to 2 weeks after the baby is born but honestly with my style we can wait longer.  I’ve had some families wait up to a month, even two or three.  If you really want to capture that newborn look through, the sooner the better because they change so fast. The first few weeks they are generally more sleepy, and less fussy but the older they are the more awake and aware they are.  Both have their perks.   I’ll make it work through no matter what age.   I do most newborn session on weekdays during morning hours.
